Talk title: Extrasolar Storms and Cloud Atlas: Clouds and Atmospheric Dynamics in Brown Dwarfs and Exoplanets

Observations of directly imaged and transiting exoplanets and brown dwarfs revealed the near-universal presence of condensate clouds in their atmospheres. These clouds profoundly influence the spectra and the energy transport in the atmospheres, and shape the atmospheric pressure-temperature profiles. In spite of their impact on the atmospheres, the structure and properties of condensate clouds remain poorly understood.
In this talk I will show results on the origins and properties of clouds obtained through high-precision, time-resolved observations with the Hubble and Spitzer Space telescopes. I will highlight some of the most exciting results emerging from our projects and will discuss how these novel ideas are changing our models of exoplanet atmospheres now and the opportunities they open for the near future.
